Rated 1 out of 5 by from No as described The tool is no good for re-pointing a brick wall. If you place the mortar in the unit it will squeeze out all the fluid and then make it impossible for the mortar to be pushed out. I would not recommend this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Complete waste of money (and time) Bought this some time back but have only just used it. Bought it to grout new bathroom. Very difficult to fill without air pockets. start pumping and the grout comes out past the threads on the end cap as they are only part threads then they will not unscrew. unfortunately no zero stars option so it has to be one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Competent product. Essential tool for re-pointing. The key to success is the correct mortar mix. Typically; 5 parts builders sand, 1 part cement and 1 part lime for the dry mix. The water must have plasticiser added, the manufacturers guide lines must be followed. The one I use has a ratio of 10ml to 15ml of add-mix per 1.5 litres of water. Mix it to the consistency of hummus. Half a builder's bucket of mortar is enough material if you're working alone. If it falls out of the tube nozzle it's too wet, if it doesn't pump its too dry. Before you mix the mortar prepare the area of work. Take out the old joints with an appropriate tool, the Irwin 4 cutter mortar rake on an angle grinder makes the job easy. Goggles, gloves and ear defenders needed. Remove the joints from about 40 or 50 bricks at a time, working from top to bottom ensuring all the old mortar is removed. Brush out remaining loose fragments first, then wash away any dust from the joints with water before filling with mortar. A pointing trowel is necessary to fill low points and finish off the joint. Other tools are available. If the gun jams up, don't force it out, tip the contents back into the bucket and add a little more water to the mix and freshen it up with your bucket trowel. This gun works best pointing down, not inverted. Once you think the mortar in the joints has gone off, use a stiff hand brush to clean off excess mortar from the brickwork. Clean all residual mortar from your tools before continuing with further work. If you're working off the ground, a suitable safety structure is essential. This information is not finite, there are many variations of this process. Consult a professional if at all unsure.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Makes a good sausage Can't speak for its abilities with mortar but does a decent job of stuffing sausage casings. Just cut down the clear nozzle and it push fits into a bit of 22mm SpeedFit pipe which holds the casing and you're good to go.

Sadly this was not up to the job, bought to grout some kitchen floor tiles, had a very smooth grout mixed to guidelines and filled the tube. The first tube went in OK but after that the plunger just pushed through the grout and it didn't work at all, i even changed the plunger but it was no better. Great idea but shame its not fit for purpose.
